Lindsay West
Lindsay West is a soulful songwriter and musician, who has American roots but grew up just outside of London. After moving to Edinburgh to study fine art, she began playing gigs at the many small music venues around the city.
In 2005, Lindsay recorded her first 15-track demo
with Nick Trepka, and played live on Leith FM. She became the backing vocalist for Andi Neate, a successful Edinburgh singer-songwriter,
until the end of of the following year.
In 2006, Lindsay’s song “Newcastle” was played by Tom Ravenscroft, John Peel’s son, during his first internet radio broadcast for Slashmusic. He described the song as “perhaps my favourite track so far on the Slashmusic site”. Lindsay was also interviewed as the “featured artist” on the Tunetribe website (Tunetribe.com) in July 2006.
Now back in England, Lindsay is devoting most of her
time to her music, gathering together a small band and playing in front of London audiences. She is due to
finish a long-awaited demo of new songs at the end of September, recorded with Darius Kedros,
sound engineer and producer to Kathryn Williams.
