Low Fi Girl

Michelle Tofi, a.k.a Low Fi Girl is one of the most highly anticipated song-writers to have come out of the acoustic circuit in years. Blending a passion for personal anecdotes with a wider social commentary, Low Fi's heartfelt lyricism is matched by a powerful, gently lilting voice that belies her petite stature; indeed, at a misleading 5' tall, this is one pocket performer who packs a powerful punch!

Low Fi started performing at a young age, entering a competition at the tender age of 13 to write a song for the new Millenium, the result of which saw her jamming in a dimly-lit music room with Dusty Springfield's brother and former guitarist, Mike. Although those days may be a distant memory, Low Fi never stopped writing down hooks and lyrics, even working in a music store for free in college just so she could jam with local musicians and pick up tips along the way. Later she used her practical knowledge of film-making, gained while studying Film and Television at the University of East Anglia, to help emerging bands make promotional videos, again for free, so she could learn about stage production and life on the road.

Low Fi's first big break came this year where she co-headlined the Women's Stage at London Pride 2007, an event attended each year by hundreds of thousands of revellers from all over the world. Since then she has gone from strength to incredible strength, playing intimate candle-lit gigs at clampham's internationally renowned 'Acoustic Lounge' with New York underground sensations 'Pete and Jay'.

Now beginning to make a name for herself in all the right circles, Low Fi was asked to perform at the first ever 'Wimfest' celebration of women in music and art held this year and organised by Lazeebirdsrecords.co.uk and the prestigious Girl Guide London. After a brilliantly received sun-drenched afternoon set, she is now practising for the annual Vibration party, a one night extravaganza of women in music and performance, featuring international artists from as far afield as Australia and New York and held at the lavish Clapham Grand. A whirlwind of gigs will precede this incredible opportunity, including a latin-inspired fiesta at Camden's well-loved Cuban bar, the epicentre of the town's Cuban market.
