JULIE COLLINGS

From a young age Julie surrounded herself with music, listening to her parents Beatles, Melanie, Joni, Simon and Garfunkel LP's, she grew up admiring musicians who did more than just sing in studios and look pretty on the cover of magazines. Picking up her first acoustic guitar at the age of 12 she began to write and play her own songs and develop her knowledge and passion for the guitar.

Always keen to write and play as much as possible, she spent a few years playing & co-writing songs in a variety of local bands.

More recently... collaborations with established producer Rob Webster (Progress presents Boy Wunda & Retroesque Records) and The Basement tapes not only allowed Julie the opportunity to explore her talents within new genres, it has also proven her vocal & musical talent compliment many musical styles.

Julie's main passion lies in getting out and performing her songs live. After receiving glowing responses at her first few solo gigs in 2002, Julie decided to record and release an Acoustic EP through her own label Perrito Records with each batch selling out quickly. Since her 2005 showcase gigs in London, she is fast gaining a diverse and fervent following, including Radio 2's Janice Long, who recently played Julie's track Simple things on her BBC Radio 2 show. Julie has been working hard on her eagerly awaited debut album Flotsam due for release next month (March/April 2006).
